Dear Friends,
I learned to knit when I was a very young girl. My grandmother taught me and that started my endeavor to be creative. She also would bring home the most wonderful dresses from the Thrift Stores, prom gowns made all out of tulle. How I wish I had those now.
My Grandfather would visit with a bags of fruits and vegetables. I remember growing up wandering around the tomato plants and picking them off the vine only to eat them before they ever made it to the kitchen.
These are the roots that have created the women I am. Whether, I am making jewelry, dinner, or entertaining friends; being creative and being inspired is part of my everyday life. Finding a great vintage item is joy beyond expression. I also would call myself a “Dumpster Diva” riding down the road and stopping the car for that great find on the road.
I look for beauty in everyday things. I have been inspired by reading other people blogs and hope to give back some of that inspiration to my own readers.
A Yard of Pearls was influence by my mother-in-law Jane Eyre. She is so aware of my love for anything vintage and of jewelry. During our last visit she brought out a necklace that belong to her Great Grandmother. She was remarking on the fact that after all these years it was very much intact. It was a yard long and looked so elegant on her.
All I could think of was all those vintage pearls and in the length of a yard.
It so moved me that I have named my blog after it.
I hope you will enjoy following me along in my creative inspiration journey.
Coddy
